Almond tree is one of the most famous fruit trees for their decorative value. It belongs to the Rosaceae family and is a deciduous tree. Its height can reach up to 10 meters, whilst the diameter of its crown ranges from 6-7 meters. The leaves of almond trees are lanceolate, toothed and come out after their flowers. The latter, which have white and pink color, gives almond trees their aesthetic value. They are shown from early December to March, when most of the other trees are bare. After flowering, the fruiting follows, with the velvet fruit of the almond tree, which matures in early summer. This tree prefers dry limestone soils, while it has very high resistance to dry seasons. It gives an excellent result in Mediterranean gardens, but also in any place where its high decorative value is in perfect combination with the low maintenance efforts.
