Fig tree is one of the most widely used trees in Mediterranean gardens. It belongs to the Moraceae family and its height can reach up to 7 meters high. It is a deciduous tree with large leaves with 3-5 lobs each. The fruits of the fig tree have a high nutritional value, and also an impressive color (green and when matures turns into purple). It is a very strong tree, as it thrives in all types of soil except of clay and also bears in dry conditions (minimal watering) and excessive heat. Due to its durability it can be found in Mediterranean, island and country gardens.
